Olympic Speech or On the First Knowledge of God, introduced, translated and provided with interpretative essays by Hans-Josef Klauck / Balbina Bäbler, Darmstadt 2002.
This is a reflection on the shaping of human concepts of God in the face of Zeus of Olympia with far-reaching literary and art-theoretical implications. The essays show the key position of the text with regard to ancient rhetoric and art theory, discuss theologia tripertita in the history of religion as well as the relationship between the image of God and images of God, and provide archaeological information on the statue of the Olympian Zeus.
