Is "Live in secret" a good rule of life?, introduced, translated and provided with interpretative essays by Ulrich Berner / Reinhard Feldmeier / Bernhard Heininger / Rainer Hirsch-Luipold, Darmstadt 2001.

The text offers a discussion of the Platonist Plutarch with the Epicurean ideal of life. In stark antithesis to Epicurus' maxim "Live in secret", Plutarch makes clear the essential importance of a publicly responsible life for society and the individual. The essays are devoted to political ethics, philosophical metaphor, the relationship between Plutarch and Epicurus and the eschatology of Scripture in comparison with the early Christian 1st Epistle of Clement.
